Nomination

Do I need to be nominated by my institution to submit an application?

Yes.  Candidates must be nominated by accredited, degree-granting institutions in the U.S. or Canada.

How do I go about getting a nomination from my university?

Each university selects its nominees differently. Usually it is through the dean’s office at the medical school or the grants office. You must secure your university’s nomination before submitting an application.

What are some examples to meet the maximum of six nominees per institution (including affiliated medical schools, graduate schools, and all related hospitals and research institutes)?

If an institution nominates six candidates, at least (a) two candidates must be women, or (b) two candidates must be an under-represented minority, or (c) one candidate must be a woman and another candidate must be an under-represented minority.
