The Burroughs Wellcome Fund invests in the human capital of the research enterprise—individual scientists who are making waves and taking risks in the biomedical sciences. We recognize that the skills needed to move forward professionally may not always be acquired at the bench. In 2011, the BWF Board of Directors approved funding to support development of new approaches to improving trainees’ preparedness for jobs at and away from the bench.
