In order for an application to be submitted, each section of the application must be completed. Applications that are not in compliance with proposal instructions will be rejected out of fairness to all applicants.
The following is required:
1. On-line Data Entry of General Proposal Information
The application contains online data entry screens which must be completed on BWF's online grant application system. When completing the Proposal Information, include your name in the “Project Title” field in the format of “Last Name, First Name – Project Title."
2. Upload of Requested Attachments (attachments must be uploaded as Adobe Portable Document Format files)
Standard word processing software (e.g., MS Word or WordPerfect) can be used to prepare the attachments; however, all documents MUST be converted from standard word processing format to Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files prior to being uploaded to BWF's Grant Application System.
Use the following naming convention for the combined PDF file: Last Name, First Name – Project Title (e.g., Smith, Sarah – Project Title).
Biosketch
Using the Biosketch Form provided, include a biographical sketch of four pages or less for both Co-Directors of the proposal. Complete the educational block at the top of the page, and sections A, B, and C. A sample biosketch is provided for your reference. The format is similar to the NIH-style biosketch, with differences shown in italics below:
- Positions and Honors. List in chronological order, concluding with present position. List any honors.
- Selected Peer-reviewed Publications or Manuscripts in Press (in chronological order). Manuscripts submitted may be included. Do not include abstracts of papers given at meetings. Separate peer-reviewed publications from non peer-reviewed publications.
- Research Support. List both current and pending grants and awards with proposal titles, names of the principal investigators, annual direct amounts, beginning and ending dates, and sources of support.
Abstract (400 words or less)
Using the Abstract Form provided, (400 word maximum) describe your proposed training grant in an Abstract that is understandable to a multidisciplinary group of scientific reviewers. Summarize the proposed training program, including its proposed scientific focus, the special value to be gained by its cross training of students, and the desired outcome for those trained by the program.
Signature Page
Using the Signature Page provided, enter the contact information, obtain the required signatures, and upload the form to your application. Applicants are responsible for ensuring that the institution's name and the institutional contacts are correctly entered. The Signature Page must be signed by the following three individuals:
- The applicant (the Co-Director whose institution will administer the award) - in the signature box marked "Signature of the Applicant (Co-director)."
- The second Co-Director - in the box marked "Signature of Co-Director #2."
- The Official responsible for sponsored programs at the institution that will be administering the award - in the signature box marked "Signature of Signing Official."
The Signature Page, with original or electronic signatures, must be uploaded to the application before it is submitted and received by BWF by 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time, on February 17, 2014. Faxed or printed documents will not be accepted.
