BWF's Electronic Grant Application System
Burroughs Wellcome Fund (BWF) requires all preproposals for this program be submitted electronically through its web-based grant application system. Candidates who meet the eligibility requirements may self-nominate by submitting an electronic preproposal by the deadline. If you feel you meet the eligibility criteria, proceed to take the quiz below. Applicants are encouraged to start early and review the program background information, terms of grant, selection process, and FAQs prior to beginning the preproposal.

Access a saved preproposal
A complete preproposal consists of online data entry and additional material that must be uploaded in a single PDF file to the preproposal. Details for each required section of the preproposal is provided in the Preproposal Sections.
After careful review of the information above, begin by logging into the application system and taking the eligibility quiz.
The preproposal may be accessed and changed multiple times as needed prior to submission by clicking the “Access a saved application” link. Once the preproposal submission deadline has passed, preproposals will not be accepted and submitted applications cannot be changed. BWF makes no exceptions to its requirements. Once the preproposal application is complete, click the "Review and Submit" button. When all required fields have been entered and required attachments uploaded, a "Submit" button will be made available. Once the preproposal has been successfully submitted, you should receive a confirmation email. If you do not receive email notification, please contact Rusty Kelley, Program Officer, via email or phone 919-991-5120.
