Investigators in the Pathogenesis of Infectious Disease

Candidates must be nominated by accredited, degree-granting institutions in the United States or Canada and generally have an M.D., D.V.M., or Ph.D. degree.  Applications must be approved by an official responsible for sponsored programs (generally from the grants office, office of research, or office of sponsored programs) at the degree-granting institution.  Candidates should contact one of these offices for information about the nominating process at the institution.

Burroughs Wellcome Fund (BWF) requires all applications for this program to be submitted electronically through BWF's web-based Grant Application System.  Completed applications must be submitted by November 1, 2011 by 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time.  No exceptions.

Applicants are encouraged to start early and review the program background information, eligibility, selection process, proposal sections, and FAQs prior to beginning the proposal application.  Certain proposal information will be requested online when you access the BWF Grant Application System, but the majority of the application consists of various materials prepared by the applicant and uploaded to the system.  (See Proposal Sections).

Access the BWF Grant Application System through the links provided above.  Create a log-in and password to gain access to the Eligibility Quiz. You must first take the eligibility quiz to determine if you are eligible to apply for the grant.  Successful completion of an eligibility quiz will be required to continue the proposal application.  The proposal application may be accessed and changed multiple times as needed prior to submission of the application.  However, once the proposal application has been submitted, it cannot be changed.  No exceptions.  (Note: Details for requesting and uploading blind recommendation letters are provided in the online application.)

When all required fields have been entered and required attachments uploaded, a "Submit" button will be made available.  Once the proposal application is complete, click the "Review and Submit" button.

Once the proposal application deadline has passed, applications will not be accepted and submitted applications cannot be changed.  No exceptions.
