Program

The Sturgeon City Science Enrichment Program is a year-round program designed to widen the exposure to science by providing a meaningful science-rich activity away from the school environment to impressionable high school freshmen. Students who express further interest are invited to an after school or Saturday program where independent research is offered in various science areas, and all are invited to a Summer Science Academy where engineering, physics, biotechnology, and biology are offered as study areas. The Surgeon City Science program grew from the renaissance of a severely degraded water body into a productive natural habitat. It is a model of using students as environmental volunteers that transformed the Wilson Bay Wastewater Treatment Plant into an environmental education center.
