At the Burroughs Wellcome Fund, we recognize and value our position as a convening body and catalyst for major education and research organizations and initiatives. Whether through support for meetings and symposia or gathering advisory committees and finalists for our award programs, we have used in-person meetings to enhance our communities, provide career development opportunities, and to fund the leaders of basic biomedical research. However, travel restrictions and concerns over COVID-19 have motivated us to think creatively about the way we conduct business during this challenging time. Fortunately, we live in a time where technology connects us in ways that would have been unimaginable even a decade ago.
Please know that the Burroughs Wellcome Fund is committed to being flexible and forward-thinking in helping our programs progress in the most effective and meaningful ways as the path to overcoming COVID-19 is navigated. It is in this time of uncertainty that we are grateful to the community of educators, scientists and clinicians working diligently to inform us accurately and solve current and future diseases that afflict human health.
