Project Title: Medical Bridge for Minority Males (Minority Males in Medicine)

The Medical Bridge for Minority Males is a program designed to offer students with STEM-related career information and experiences in order to attract Alamance County black and Hispanic middle and high school young men to medical and science careers. To achieve this objective, Alamance Community College (ACC), in partnership with the Alamance Burlington School System (ABSS) and UNC-Chapel Hill Medical School, and the participation of Duke University Medical Center and the Biomedical/Biotechnology Research Institute at NC Central University, created a curriculum that includes a year-round program, summer camps and other science enrichment activities. Medical Bridge's activities will provide early exposure to STEM careers; extensive role modeling by professionals of color; hands-on, challenging and fun instruction; and rigorous math, science, and communication skills.
